OH WHAT A WEEK

Our hearts were aching as little Dugan spent 4 days and 3 nights in the veterinary clinic with a mystery bug.

A sick little pup
On Monday morning we noticed the little guy wasn't his usual self. We thought it might of been the effects of his vaccinations that he had got on the Friday evening. But as the day went on he seemed to pick up. That evening he stopped eating his food and the following morning became very listless and floppy. He would walk a few steps then flop to the floor. The first thing that entered my mind was canine parvovirus. So straight to the Vet.
The Vet carried out tests to determine if it was Parvo and they came back negative. He then while at the clinic started to have diarrhoea and became dehydrated as the day went on plus his temperature started to rise. So the Vet put him on a drip to get fluids into him. At this stage we thought we were going to lose him and I was going to have to tell my kids the puppy was gone.
But thankfully our Vet kept working hard and we got Dugan home on Friday night. He was so pleased to see the children, my wife, me and our other dog (Giacomo).
The Vet seems to think that he could of ate something that just didn't agree with him. He is on a prescription diet for a few days and antibiotics but is already looking a lot better.

Dugan at home and on the mend.
Thank Goodness all is well (at the moment) but as you all know there is never a dull moment being a dog owner.
